Dr. Kurt and David VanWinkle are Periodontists located on the north side of Indianapolis specializing in the latest state-of-the-art treatment of gum disease, periodontal plastic and reconstructive surgery and dental implant surgery for tooth replacement. Our focus is conservative treatment methods as well as surgical therapies to repair and regenerate the damage created as a result of periodontal (gum) disease.
Your teeth are intended to last a lifetime — and they can, with proper care. Don’t wait until it hurts. Unfortunately, periodontal disease does not always cause pain or discomfort; therefore it is sometimes difficult to be motivated to treat the disease. A periodontal evaluation with Dr. Van Winkle is well worth the investment in saving your teeth. Periodontal disease is a major cause of tooth loss in adults.

Staff very professional and personable. With Dr. Van Winkle pulled together a reasonable and workable treatment plan to deal with the teeth involved. I left with a a portfolio and plan of care. Hoping the intervention date of May, 2025 can be moved to an earlier date.

I had an infected molar that needed to be removed. I have had a great number of dental procedures in my life—impacted wisdom teeth and a large number of root canals (including some teeth that needed two treatments). As a result, I have experienced endodontists and oral surgeons in a number of different US cities. Dr. Van Winkle oversees a very busy practice and I completely understand why my dentist referred me to him. The environment of the office is simply reassuring as you see many treatment rooms in use. He has a very reassuring presence. A first rate experience.

I had an implant placed, and Dr. Van Winkle was so patient to make sure I was not in any pain and did an amazing job. It was a quick procedure, and not has bad as I thought considering I had been putting it off for 10 years because I was afraid. I am glad I finally did it and highly recommend coming here!

As always, I had a superb care at Dr. Van Winkle's office. The dental hygienist was very knowledgeable, she examined me thoroughly and provided me with best advice on how to take care of my teethes in order to avoid periodontal disease.
This was my first visit and was a referral from my dentist. The staff was extremely courteous with smiles all around, made me feel a little less uncomfortable (it's a periodontics appointment, after all!). I'm not good with names, but the dental assistant who took xrays was friendly and shared a lot about what she was doing and why. same with the hygienist who did the initial exam. Very knowledgeable and spoke in terms I could understand. Don't misunderstand me, the exam was a little uncomfortable, but not unnecessarily so. Dr. Van Winkle spent more time with me than I expected and explained several options for treatment. He was candid and shared what he would do in my position, but then suggested that I should probably take a more conservative approach (which seemed a little less scary at the time). He was thoughtful, thorough and completely professional. Everyone worked together to put me at ease. I left the office with a plan in place that I felt confident about.
Dr Van Winkle, Debbie and all of the ladies there are wonderful. I've had several procedures done in this office and I have never had a bad experience. While I do not enjoy going to the dentist, I do enjoy visiting Dr Van Winkle's office. He and his staff make it a great experience. They always have your best interests in mind and make you comfortable as possible.
