Laser Periodontal Therapy
This procedure is a "no cutting-no stitching" surgical procedure. It begins with the periodontal probe measuring excessive pocket depth. Then the laser is used to remove diseased tissue and debris found underneath the gum within the pocket. Disease causing bacteria are killed, leaving a sterile environment.
Ultrasonic scalers and special hand instruments are used to clean and smooth the root surface. The laser is
then used a second time to further clean under the gum and to aid in coagulation or clot formation. This clot
acts like a bandage around the teeth to help promote rapid healing and new gum formation around the teeth.
