| Bone grafting is a regenerative procedure that replaces the bone supporting your teeth that has been destroyed.
During this procedure the periodontist: |
- Folds back the gum tissue and removes the disease-causing bacteria.
- Bone graft particles or chips are placed in and around the damaged bone.
- This process promotes your body's natural ability to regenerate bone and tissue.

- The tooth is extracted and the remaining tooth socket is thoroughly cleaned of all inflamed and infected tissue.
- Bone graft particles or chips are carefully placed into the extraction socket to fill the void left from the tooth.
- A dissolvable membrane or filter is placed over the bone graft to help hold the graft particles in place. This is similar to the way a coffee filter contains the coffee grinds.
- Sutures placed into the gum tissue allow proper healing of the surrounding soft tissues.
